NHES Jamshedpur students witness historic Axiom Space Launch

Jamshedpur, June 25: Excitement filled the air at Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) on Wednesday as students, teachers, and special guests gathered to witness a historic moment in space exploration — the live screening of Axiom Space’s Mission 4 (Ax-4) launch. The event, organized in collaboration with the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce, drew enthusiastic participation and patriotic fervor, especially as the camera captured the Indian ‘Watch Party’ during the global broadcast.

The screening began at 10:00 a.m., culminating in the successful launch at 12:01 p.m. from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Students waved the Indian flag with pride as they cheered for Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla of the Indian Air Force, who is serving as the mission pilot. With this flight, he becomes only the second Indian to journey into space, making the moment even more special for the school and the city.

Axiom Mission 4 is a joint effort by the United States, India, Hungary, and Poland. The mission represents a significant step in private spaceflight and global cooperation in scientific exploration. Axiom Space, which is leading the effort to build the world’s first commercial space station, has emerged as a symbol of inspiration for young minds aiming for careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

“We are proud that our school has been selected to organize the watch party for the launch of the Axiom 4 mission,” said school President Nakul Kamani, addressing the gathering. “It’s an honour to be a part of this milestone in global space exploration.”

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Paramita Roy Choudhury remarked, “This live screening has been organised to help promote educational engagement in space science among young learners. Events like this have the power to spark curiosity and broaden horizons.”
