NHES celebrates International Peace Day

Jamshedpur, Sept 23: The International Peace Day is observed all around the world on 21st September. The world today is passing through a phase of violence, declining values, reduced tolerance and lack of respect for human rights.

Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) decided to celebrate the International Peace Day to create a culture of peace and make the students aware of the importance of living together. The celebration commenced with the releasing of the Peace Dove by the Principal of the school, Mrs. Paramita Roy Chaudhury.

This was followed by a multi-faith prayer ceremony. A peace seminar was organized next. Simrandeep Kaur (Class 10) spoke on United Nation (UN) and the role of the Peace Keeping Forces. P. Sudha (Class 10) expressed her views on inner peace.

Snigdha Verma (Class 10) spoke on the Noble Peace Prize winners. Mahima Parmar (Class 10) spoke on Mahatma Gandhi and his principle of non-violence and Radhika Patwari (Class 10) discussed about Nelson Mandela�s contribution towards peace. This was followed by a group discussion on the topics �Has the UN lost its power to the big five?� and �In this politically polarized world, it has become necessary for India to align itself with one of the two power blocs- USA or Russia�.

The participants were Sneha Mukherjee (Class 12), Suparna Saha (Class 12), Niket Nishant (Class 12), Amitesh Mallick (Class 12), Rajshree Seal (Class 11), Dhwani Barcha (Class 11), Vijay Rungta (Class 11) and Ankana Shome (Class 11).

The programme was organized by Mrs Namrata Singh (Teacher), Mrs Pinky Ananthnarayan (Teacher), Ms. Hina Taunk (Teacher) and Mrs. Moushumi Ghosh (Teacher).
