Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s petition was heard in the court of Justice SK Dwivedi of Jharkhand High Court. The court has fixed the date of October 17 for the detailed hearing.
It may be noted that during the 2014 elections, Hemant Soren went to campaign for his party’s candidate. During that time, a case of violation of election code of conduct was registered against him in Adityapur police station.
The hearing of this case is going on in the civil court of West Singhbhum district. The petition seeks to stay the proceedings in the lower court and quash the FIR.
It is worth noting that Chief Minister Hemant Soren is involved in one after another these days. On the one hand, his case against the ED summons in the Ranchi Zeeman scam is listed for hearing in the court, which after October 6 is now scheduled to be heard on October 11. Chief Minister Hemant Soren says that he is being harassed by the ED at the behest of the central government. It is unconstitutional.
He has been summoned five times for questioning by the ED and has been absent each time. He had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court on August 23 against the summons of the ED, challenging the action of the Enforcement Directorate, but the Supreme Court refused to hear it and asked him to go to the High Court.
After this, the CM approached the high court. Its hearing is going on. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Hemant Soren has written a letter to the investigating agency saying that the matter is under consideration in the court. In such a situation, no action should be taken on the issued summons until the decision of the court.
