Newly-wed sets herself on fire in Birsanagar, critical

Jamshedpur, Sep 28: A newly-wed woman was rushed to MGM Hospital when put herself on fire at her house in Birsanagar Zone No 7 under Birsanagar Police Station on Sunday morning.

The victim, Vilashini Rabidas (20) who was married to Lakhi Rabidas three months ago.

Vilashini has sustained 90 percent burns. The doctors on emergency duty who attended her said that chances of the burnt patient is almost nil as she has sustained a high percentage of burns.

“Condition of the burn patient Vilashini is extremely critical as she has sustained about 90 percent of burns. ,” said a doctor on condition of anonymity.

Vilashini was admitted at the medical college hospital by her husband at 11 am today, about an hour of the young woman set herself on fire.

“Earlier on Sunday last, Vilashini had tried to commit suicide by hanging at her parents’ house in Amjhor village under Bodam police station of East Singhbhum district. I saved her by getting her rid of a trap for hanging.

But this time she shut herself in her room and set her on fire after pouring in a container full of kerosene oil,” said Lakhi.

The anxious husband first said that he did not know why did his wife tried to commit suicide. Perhaps she was not interested to live with him. He also claimed not to have scolded Vilashini for anything as such.

Lakhi (27), when queried, said revealed that a week ago his wife had gone away with a youth who resided in the neighbouring village of his in-laws, and ever since that day they were fighting
