Jamshedpur MP meets rail users association to push for improved services
Jamshedpur, June 14: In a key meeting held in Jamshedpur, MP Bidyut Baran Mahato met with a delegation from the Jharkhand Rail Users Association to discuss critical issues and longstanding demands concerning railway services in the region.
The meeting focused on improving passenger convenience and expanding rail connectivity from Tatanagar. Prominent among the proposals was the demand for a new direct train from Tatanagar to Bikaner via Jaipur and Reengus, aimed at benefiting devotees visiting Khatu Shyam. Another major suggestion was to introduce a new Tatanagar–Delhi train via Muri, Barkakana, Hazaribagh Town, and Koderma to boost connectivity on this underutilized route.
Participants also called for the revival of the discontinued Tatanagar–Mumbai LTT Antyodaya Express as a bi-weekly service with sleeper, AC, and general coaches, to ease ticket availability for passengers traveling to Mumbai.
A proposal to extend the 08611/12 Santragachi–Ajmer Special train up to Jaipur was discussed to fulfill a long-pending public demand. Additionally, the association recommended rerouting the 13301/02 Dhanbad–Tatanagar Swarnarekha Express via Dhanbad, Bokaro, and Purulia to reduce travel time and enhance efficiency.
Concerns were also raised about the limited frequency of the 12889/90 Tatanagar–SMVT Bengaluru Express. The association demanded its increase from weekly to tri-weekly to cater to students, professionals, patients, and pilgrims.
The delegation highlighted delays and poor punctuality of trains operating under Chakradharpur Railway Division, especially on the Jharsuguda–Tatanagar, Noamundi–Rajkharsawan–Tatanagar, and Chandil–Kandra–Tatanagar routes.
MP Bidyut Baran Mahto assured the delegation that all suggestions were taken seriously and committed to meeting the Railway Minister soon to push for the necessary improvements.
