Ranchi: JVM (P) president Babulal Marani said that the new land acquisition ordinance is more damaging than land ordinance enacted by the British in 1894. He was addressing a dharna organized by JVM (P) at Raj Bhavan against the new land ordinance.
Babulal Marandi said that farmers of Jharkhand would be largely affected by the ordinance and they would render landless. He said that new industries are welcome in Jharkhand but such units ought to be set up in untenanted land. He said that 80 percent of State’s population is dependent on agriculture and they would lose their land if the new land ordinance is come into effect. Price of land should be fixed on its utility.
Speaking on recruitment Marandi observed that the State Government should first chart out the domicile policy before going ahead with new recruitment for government jobs. He suggested that the State Government under Section 16 (3) of the Constitution should send proposal to the Centre for reservation in class III and IV grade jobs for the Jharkhandis.
He pulled up the State Government on tenders for sand quarries, said that the present ruling party had raised questions on the issue when it was out of power but presently it is keeping its finger cross on the issue. Marandi said that if the present dispensation in Jharkhand gloss over the demands of the people JVM (P) would step its agitation.
On the occasion the Hatia legislator Navin Jaisawal demanded that the Centre must withdraw the land acquisition ordinance and formulate State’s domicile policy at the earliest. Party general secretary Sunil Sahu, secretary, Virendra Bhagat, senior leaders Santosh Kumar, Jitendra Verma, Uttam Yadav and others were present on the occasion.
