Jamshedpur: A copper mine is likely to be opened in Ruam, situated close to Jadugora, very soon. A team of Ministry of Mines, Government of India, led by Secretary Anil Mukim, and including Director Prithul Kumar and Mine Secretary Abdul Bakar Siddiqui among others visited the site of an ongoing survey being conducted by MECL in this regard. The officials saw the drilling work and the sample stones.
The AGM of Hindustan Copper Limited Amit Sarkar said a huge stock of copper had been detected in Ruam. He said drilling had been started to make an assessment of the copper reserve in the area. So far 12 bore hols have been dug, he said, adding that the work would be completed by March next year. After sample testing, a report would be sent to the Government of India. The entire procedure would take four hours, said the AGM.
