Jamshedpur, Jan. 8: East Singhbhum district administration has recovered a new born baby, allegedly sold by a poor mother near Tatanagar railway station yesterday evening to a childless couple.
East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Ravishankar Shukla said that they came to know through chief minister office about the issue and immediately constituted a team comprising Jugsalai Municipality special officer, child welfare committee (CWC), Bagbera thana and local railway officials to undertake a search for the child and fortunately the parents who had taken the child brought it to the Bagbera thana this afternoon. They have directed the CWC for rehabilitation of the mother and infant and the Bagbera thana to take necessary action as per legal provision.
According to child welfare committee East Singhbhum district chairperson, Pushpa Tirkey, the poor mother Gudiya Khan (in his early 20s) used to stay on the pavement alongside Station-Parsudih Road for the last few months.
