Neighbour kills Tata Motors Jamshedpur employee over land dispute

Jamshedpur, Oct 28 :  Tata Motors employee was allegedly beaten to death by his neighbor over a land dispute on Sunday in Birsanagar, Zone 2B. The police arrived at the scene and reported that the victim was attacked with sticks and batons. He was severely injured and was rushed to the Tata Main Hospital for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.

The police have identified the victim as Vijay Sharma (65). Sharma’s wife, Lalita Devi filed a complaint against Shambhu Sharma, his wife Bindu Devi, daughters Shewta and Sneha Sharma and son Sumit Sharma for involvement in the murder. “We purchased two kattas of land from Shambhu Sharma in 2015, but disputes with his family began soon after,” she said, explaining the longstanding tension between the two families.

A preliminary investigation revealed that Sharma was also struck with stones during the altercation. The police arrested the accused, Shambhu Sharma and after questioning and a medical examination, he was sent to jail.

On Monday, the police handed over Vijay Sharma’s body to his family after conducting a post-mortem. The investigation into the roles of the other accused individuals is ongoing, with authorities assuring that “all necessary legal actions will be taken.”
