Need to walk extra mile to hone and harness women talent: Tata Steel MD

Jamshedpur, March 8: On the occasion of International Women’s Day,  T V Narendran, managing director & CEO, Tata Steel said that at Tata Steel, it gratifies us to come together, to cherish and celebrate the cause of women, on International Women’s Day, today. It is with a sense of deep respect and appreciation that we honour the women who have played indispensable roles in our lives.

He further said: “Growing aspirations, changing demographics and rising expectations have made us realise the importance of leveraging the potential of women at work. We now need to walk that extra mile in order to hone and harness talent among women”.

“Our human resource policies, learning and development opportunities and support systems, demonstrate our commitment to creating relatable and meaningful roles for our women workforce. However, we must continue to reconstruct the future of work and revisit our talent policies, thus enabling us to become the most preferred company for women to work for, in the manufacturing and mining space. Let us pledge to work together for a better and brighter tomorrow, by encouraging, enabling and empowering women, not just today, but for all time to come,” added Narendran.

This year, the UN’s theme for International Women’s Day is “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow”, which aims to recognise women who are working to build a more sustainable future.
