TV Narendran hoists Tricolour at Jamshedpur Works Gate

Jamshedpur, Aug 16: Tata Steel celebrated 75 years of Independence with a lot of fervour and enthusiasm across its operating sites and office locations. Flag hoisting ceremonies were conducted at various locations.
Tata Steel CEO and MD TV Narendran hoisted the National Flag before the statue of Founder JN Tata at the company Works Gate on the occasion of 76th Independence Day celebrations. After hoisting the Tricolour, he addressed the company employees and residents of the city.
Narendran spoke on a number of topics including the healthcare system in the country, education policy, Skill India, climate change and digitalization. He said the period of 75 years after Independence was a glorious time for the country. He said considerably progress had been made in the field of healthcare post Independence.
“In the past three years, most of the people were affected by Covid 19. It was a wake-up call for all of us. Despite the advancements in the field of health, it is important that better healthcare amenities are within the reach of everyone,” said Narendran.
The MD said better education and skill development was the need of the country today and that there was need to improve our primary education. “We need to focus more on vocational training. For this, we need to improve primary education first,” he said.
Narendran said there was need to encourage start-ups. “Our country stands first among the youngest countries today. Several lakhs of youths are becoming skilled every year. For this ready workforce, there is need to encourage maximum investment in the country. New start-ups are coming up and providing jobs to youths. We need to motivate them as they have emerged as better job creators in the present times,” he said.
Terming climate change as a major challenge for the entire world, Narendran said a roadmap should be prepared for the nation, corporate sector and the society. “Development should be such that it causes minimum damage to the environment. We need to focus on renewable energy resources instead of natural resources by making necessary changes in technology,” he said.
Narendran went on to observe that digitalization was the need of the country today. He further said that Tata Group and Tata Steel were always committed to the development of the nation. “Whether be it steel or power sector, Tata Group has always been a pioneer. We have come a long way in this field and contributed to nation’s development. We have given ethical values and new leaders who have given new dimensions to the country, he said.
As the country celebrates Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, national flags were put up and displayed on office buildings. Various roundabouts of the city were also lit up to mark the occasion.
