NDRF mockdrill on gas leakage at Tata Steel on Feb 24

Jamshedpur, Feb 20: East Singhbhum district administration would conduct mock drill on February 24 to manage industrial disaster and gas leakage. 

In this connection, East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Suraj Kumar today held a meeting with representatives of Tata Steel, NDRF and all concerned officials on preparation for the mock-drill exercise. 

While the on-site mock drill would be conducted by NDRF team inside Tata Steel plant on February 23 while on February 24 off site mock drill would be conducted at Bistupur. 

Separate instructions were issued during the review meeting to the fire brigade unit, civil surgeon for ambulances. The deputy commissioners directed that vehicles including ambulances used in the mockdrill should have clearly written on them mock drill in order to avoid panic among masses. 

During the mock drill those persons who will be lightly affected by the gas leakage will be kept temporarily at he Michael John Auditorium while those affected seriously would be kept at the Tata Main Hospital and a green corridor would be created between Ginger Hotel and Tata Main Hospital. Traffic police was also directed to maintain traffic discipline during the exercise. 

The deputy commissioner also said that those persons who are symbolically supposed to be affected by the gas leakage will be kept at locations identified from before hand while elaborate control posts would be constructed at strategic locations.
