Jamshedpur, September 27: In an electrifying grand finale at Jalandhar, Naval Tata Hockey Academy (NTHA) exhibited indomitable spirit against the formidable Sports Authority of India, Sonipat. Despite a valiant effort, NTHA narrowly conceded defeat with a slender scoreline of 4-3, thus securing the Runners-up title of the prestigious tournament.
The final was a pulsating spectacle of skill and resilience. Patras Hassa emerged as a striking force with two brilliant field goals, while the prodigious Ashish Tani Purti converted a decisive penalty corner, leaving spectators awestruck. At just 14 years of age, NTHA’s player Ashish—competing in a tournament meant for the U-21 category—etched his name in history with his stellar performance. His extraordinary feat earned him the coveted title of Player of the Tournament, accompanied by a magnificent prize: a Royal Enfield motorcycle.

NTHA was felicitated with a cash prize as the tournament’s runners-up. Each cadet’s contribution was indispensable, with the squad’s cohesion fortified under the astute guidance of Coach Vikas Pant and meticulous management of Manager Sumit Batham.
Reflecting on the team’s performance, Coach Vikas Pant remarked: “This was not just a match; it was our academy’s ethos of perseverance, courage, and unity. Every cadet played with heart, transcending the limitations of age and experience. Ashish’s brilliance is a beacon of what our future holds, while Patras and the rest of the team proved that true hockey is born of teamwork, not just individual flair. Though we stand as runners-up today, the journey itself is a monumental victory for NTHA, and we will rise stronger.”
The championship finale underscored the academy’s growing legacy in Indian hockey. With a constellation of promising cadets and a philosophy deeply rooted in discipline and excellence, NTHA continues to epitomize the vision of nurturing future stalwarts for the nation.
