Jamshedpur, Oct 31: The 140 th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was celebrated as National Unity Day in city with fervour.
Various organizations organised series of events including a short marathon to mark the day.
About 650 students from various schools participated in the Run for Unity . The students and teachers present on the occasion also took pledge to serve country. The other activities like collage, poster-making, slogan writing, creative writing, were organized.
Lajpat Public School organized Short Marathon on the occasion of Rasthriya Ekta Diwas. The event was inaugurated by our school principal Ranjit Ghosh. Students of Std. IV to Std. VII took part and all were very enthusiastic and enjoyed the event. This marathon began from the school gate to till Golmuri at least 150 students were taken part, this program had been success by the help of staff of Lajpat Public School, they have done their best everybody appreciated this.
K.K. Educational and Foundation Trust organised a short marathon that started from Sakchi roundabout and culminated near the Sir Dorabji Tata Park in Bistupur. More than 2000 people participated in the marathon.
Swetabh Suman, an income tax commissioner was the chief guest who flagged off the marathon.
Touted as a ‘Run for Unity’, the Centre planned events all across the country on October 31 to mark Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary.
The order further stated that schools would conduct a march past within the campus with a banner of “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas” and singing of the national anthem.
Schools will also organise quiz competitions and collage-making and painting contests. Officials were instructed to visit at least two schools and report on the activities and participation.
