Jamshedpur: Kids International School celebrated National Sports Day with great enthusiasm, organizing a variety of sports competitions, cultural programs, and speech contests. The event aimed to promote the importance of physical activity and sportsmanship among students, aligning with the celebration of the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, India’s legendary hockey player.
The day was filled with vibrant activities, including speech competitions, ramp walks, chess, yoga, badminton, and basketball. Students from class 1 to 3 showcased their creativity by dressing up as their favorite sports players and participating in a lively ramp walk, bringing the excitement of the sports field into the school auditorium. Meanwhile, students from class 4 to 8 delivered speeches on their favorite sports and participated in inter-class competitions in kho-kho, kabaddi, badminton, and basketball. The enthusiasm of the children was palpable, as they engaged passionately in all the events, demonstrating both their athletic skills and their love for sports.
During the celebration, the school’s Principal, Rukhsar Ayesha, addressed the students, emphasizing the significance of National Sports Day. She remarked, “National Sports Day is celebrated every year to promote sports and physical activities in India. This day marks the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, a great hockey player who brought numerous gold medals to India with his exceptional sportsmanship, making the country proud at the Olympics.”
School Director Syed Rashid Zafar also spoke on the occasion, highlighting the importance of such events in nurturing a love for sports among children. “The purpose of Sports Day is to increase children’s interest in sports and encourage their physical and mental development,” he said.
