Jamshedpur: A two-day national seminar on the theme “Integrating Indian Knowledge Systems with Artificial Intelligence: Bridging Ancient Wisdom and Modern Technology in the Light of NEP 2020” was organised by Model DIET Chakulia in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand.
Bridging Ancient Wisdom and Modern Tech
Organizing Secretary Victor Vijay Samad opened the seminar, followed by Principal-in-Charge Ramnath Singh, who highlighted the relevance of the theme in today’s educational landscape.
Distinguished speakers, including Dr. Tripura Jha and Dr. Sandhya Sinha, discussed the expanding role of AI. They emphasized that while technology advances rapidly, human values and control must remain the guiding force. Chief Guest Dr. Lakshmi Ram Gope further stressed that integrating IKS into modern AI frameworks would lead to more holistic and contextually relevant innovations for India.
Key Highlights and Research Presentations
The seminar drew approximately 40 participants from across the country, including Assam, Uttarakhand, Bihar, West Bengal, Odisha, and Uttar Pradesh.
Notable research papers included:
- Smart Waste Management: Kumari Chandrawati presented an AI-based system for efficient waste handling.
- Environmental Integration: A team from Voice of Environment (VoE), Guwahati, led by Moharana Choudhury and experts from Bankura University, explored linking indigenous knowledge with advanced environmental management.
- Mathematical Foundations: Braj Bhushan Jha led a discussion on ancient Indian contributions to algorithms, logic, and mathematics.
- AI in Education: Several papers focused on using AI for qualitative analysis within the academic sector.
Focus on Ethics and Philosophy
On the second day, Sanjay Kumar from NIT Jamshedpur addressed the gathering as the Chief Guest. He underscored the importance of linking Indian traditions with philosophical perspectives in contemporary tech discourse.
The technical sessions delved deep into Vedic Mathematics, Machine Learning, and the ethical applications of AI, sparking intense discussion among scholars and faculty members.
Closing Ceremony
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Convener Dr. Priyanka Jha. Following participant feedback and the distribution of certificates, the ceremony ended with the National Anthem. The organizers credited the success of the seminar to the collaborative efforts of the faculty and the organizing committee.
