National power lifting championship gets underway in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, March 17: The 46th Men’s and 38th Women’s national power lifting championship organized by Indian Power Lifting Federation got underway at The Milanee auditorium in Bistupur on Wednesday, March 17. 350 competitors from 16 states are participating in this four day national contest for men and women that will conclude on March 20.

The championship was jointly inaugurated by Ramkrishna Mission’s Swami Kripakarananda Ji Maharaj, Swami Mahabhavananda Ji Maharaj and the federation’s president Satya Prakash Masih and joint secretaries Sampa Guha and Rahul Shukla.

Two minutes silence was observed in memory of the Federation’s former president and Arjuna Awardee late Subrata Dutta before the commencement of the competitive proceedings.

Renowned lifters in both categories are participating in the four day national meet. The competitors in the Men’s section have been divided into nine groups while the Women’s contestants will feature in eight groups. The results will be declared on March 20 at the conclusion of the national power lifting contest.
