Seraikela: In keeping with government’s decision to convert the National Nutrition Mission into a �jan aandolan� or a people�s movement, Seraikela-Kharsawan district administration has decided to observe the month of September as National Nutrition Month, said, deputy commissioner Chhavi Ranjan while inaugurating the month-long programme at Seraikela Town Hall on Saturday.
City SP said that the month-long intensive campaign will promote antenatal care, breastfeeding, fight anemia, convey messages about the importance of nutrition for girls and the right age of marriage, deliver messages about the importance of growth monitoring and also promote hygiene and sanitation.
DC also administered oath to all present to make the society malnutrition free.
The National Nutrition Mission, which aims to bring down stunting of children in the age bracket of 0-6 years from 38.4 per cent as of March 2018 to 25 per cent by 2022, is an overarching scheme for holistic nourishment. . It also aims to reduce the levels of under-nutrition, anaemia and low birth weight babies. A baby show was also held on the occasion and baby kits were also distributed.
