Jamshedpur, Aug 22: Festivals are occasions not only for fun but also for experiencing the art and culture of a country. India’s ancient traditions have inculcated feelings of love and unity in its citizens which is reflected in the way we celebrate our festivals.
On the occasion of “Raksha Bandhan”, a Rakhi-making competition was organized at Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) for the students. Students made eco-friendly rakhis with stuff such as paper, cloth, grain, wool, cotton and thread. The contest was held in 3 categories.
In category A (STD 3 and 4), the winners were Sneha Singh (3D), Rajashi Raj (3D) and Bhumi Sha (4A). In Category B (STD 5 and 6), the winners were Manyata Gupta (5D), Aruni Raj (6D) and Dev Kr Shaw (5D). In category C (STD 7 and 8), the winners were Shynita Mukherjee (8A), Asmita Manna (7A) and Harshwardhan Todi (8C).
Rakhis are tied to brothers who vow to protect their sisters. It was not possible to forget our brothers in the Army who protect the country from our enemies. So “Raksha Bandhan” was celebrated with a difference at NHES. Rakhis were tied to the jawans in the Army Camp by JYOTI club moderators, Anuradha Ghosh and Deblina Banerjee. Sweets were also shared with the jawans to mark the occasion.
