Narbheram Hansraj English School forms core committee to strengthen alumni network

Former Principal Dipa Sengupta appointed mentor

To launch formal association soon

Jamshedpur, April 5: Narbheram Hansraj English School (NHES) has taken a significant step toward reconnecting with its former students by forming a ten-member core committee to oversee the operations of its Alumni Association. The association, which has been functioning informally for the past few years, is now set to be launched formally in the coming months.

A meeting was held on Saturday at the school premises to discuss the working structure and future activities of the Alumni Association. The initiative aims to unite generations of NHES alumni under one platform and promote meaningful engagement between past students and the school.

Led by School Management Committee President Nakul Kamani, the school has decided to give a formal shape to the association to foster emotional and professional bonds between alumni and their alma mater.

“Our alumni are our greatest ambassadors,” said Kamani. “Through this association, we hope to celebrate their achievements and also engage them in mentoring current students and contributing to the school’s continued growth.”

Kamani also announced the appointment of former Principal Dipa Sengupta as the mentor and Subhash Banerjee as the coordinator of the association.

Speaking at the event, Dipa Sengupta expressed her joy, saying, “NHES is like my family. The formation of an alumni association will be a wonderful platform for our former students. I’m proud to be part of something that will help organize reunions, networking events, and career guidance sessions.”

Devang Gandhi, Joint Secretary of the School Management Committee and the key force behind this initiative, shared that NHES, in collaboration with a Hyderabad-based company, has already developed a dedicated alumni website. “This platform reflects the school’s commitment to building lasting connections between alumni, students, and teachers,” he said.

The newly formed core committee will begin reaching out to ex-students via social media and email in the coming days to build a comprehensive alumni database. The formal handover of responsibilities to the 10-member core team is scheduled for next week.

Former student Dr. Vivek Kedia lauded the move. “This is a wonderful step. Our school gave us so much, and this is a great opportunity to give back and reconnect with old friends,” he said.

Previously, former students have been active for the past 18 months and have been organising events including the recently held blood donation camp. Among those present at the meeting was the trailblazing student of the 1st ICSE batch of 1994.

The NHES administration believes the Alumni Association will play a crucial role in shaping the school’s future while celebrating its rich heritage. Details about membership and upcoming activities will be announced soon.
