Jamshedpur: Social cultural organisation, Naman-Shaheedon Ke Sapnon Ko, Friday organised a massive march titled ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in the city to pay tributes to the martyrs who played crucial roles in defending borders of the country.
The march that started from Agrico Ground witnessed overwhelming participation.
Under the leadership of Amarpreet Singh Kale scores of people including children participated in it. Holding placards on the martyrs the march went to different areas before concluding at Sakchi.
A session was also organised at Agrico during which martyrs and their family members were felicitated for their contribution to national security during several wars. Many former soldiers were also honoured during the function.
“We are also overwhelmed to the see the public response. It is our duty to see that family members of soldiers who died in the line of duty are felicitated. In memory of freedom fighters Bhagat Singh along with Rajguru, Sukhdev Thapar who were hanged to death on March 23 we decided to organise the event,” noted Kale.
A cultural programme was organised as part of the celebrations in which students from various educational institutions participated and presented a dance recital.
Many dignitaries were present during the programme.
They included Commander BB Mishra, State Women’s Commission chairperson Kalyani Sharan, Dr KS Sidhu, Dr SS Razi, Tata Workers Union president R Ravi Prasad, senior advocate Manoranjan Das, Binod Singh, Abhay Singh, Ajay Singh and Anand Bihari Dubey.
Speaking on the occasion, Commander BB Mishra said such programmes instilled patriotic sentiments in the young minds. He said there was an urgent need to save the country from disintegration. He said the soldiers of the country sacrifice their lives and safeguard those living within the borders.
