Deoghar: The lifeless body of Gulzar Ansari, also known as Bangta (30 years old), was discovered in the Durgapur village residence, Kunda police station area, with a gunshot wound to the head. The family, suspecting foul play, has called for a thorough investigation. Police are exploring both murder and suicide angles.
Gulzar, who operated a roadside grocery shop near Durgapur Chowk on the Devghar-Satar road, had his wife visiting her maternal home for a week. He was running the shop while residing at home with his son and parents. After having dinner on Sunday night, Gulzar retired to his room for sleep. Concerns arose when he didn’t emerge the next morning. His mother and father found him dead in his room, with blood-soaked bedding and a gunshot wound to the head.
The father, Saeed Ansari, reported that Gulzar returned home after closing the shop at 8 PM and went to sleep around 9 PM after dinner. The police, led by Kunda police station in-charge Praveen Kumar, is investigating the incident, examining the scene, and questioning family members. A spent shell was recovered from under the bed. The family demanded a thorough investigation, calling for the involvement of the SP and the use of a sniffer dog.
Despite the police’s assurance, the family insisted on waiting for the deceased’s brother from Mumbai before proceeding with the post-mortem. The Circle Inspector Sahdev Sah reached the village, appealing for cooperation. The body was eventually sent for post-mortem after the family’s insistence. SDPO Pawan Kumar stated that the police are meticulously investigating each aspect before determining whether it was a case of murder or suicide.
