Mystery shrouds death of a 25-year-old woman in Birsanagar

Jamshedpur : A 25-year-old woman who was burnt under mysterious circumstances in her residence at Birsanagar Zone No 2 under Birsanagar police station area succumbed to her injuries.

The victim, Rani Bhumeej, who had sustained over 95 percent burns was rushed to MGM Medical College and Hospital’s burn care unit where she died.

Officer-in-charge, Birsnagar police station Birsingh Munda confirmed that a young woman was burnt at her home. The victim’s husband Nimai Bhumeej said he was away on his duty at Tata Motors Limited where he worked under a private firm at the time when he got the information of about his wife getting burnt.

“I am in state of shock and don�t know what happened. My wife was alone at home when she was burnt.

I was informed by some of my neighbours that Rani was on burnt. I rushed her to MGM Medical College and Hospital,” said Nimai.

Assistant sub-inspector of police, Surendra Prasad of MGM Medical College and Hospital camp police station said he had come to take the statement of the victim, but she was not in a condition to speak.

A neigbour said he saw smoke rising from the house of Nimai Bhumeej. He went to the house where he found Nimai’s wife lying on the ground. She was completely burnt, but still alive.

The police have seized the body and sent it to the MGM Medical College mortuary for post-mortem after taking a statement from the victim’s husband.
