Jamshedpur : The police are making efforts to nab the criminals involved in the loot at Muthoot Finance’s Mango branch. On the other hand the management of the private finance company has disclosed the amount lost in the day-light robbery.
Altogether 8.3 kgs of gold ornaments worth Rs 2.5 crore have been robbed from the private finance company’s branch office in Mango on Monday afternoon.
The amount of gold jeweleries looted was disclosed after a five member team of auditors carried out a thorough examination. “As per the information in all 8.3 kgs of gold ornaments worth Rs 2.5 crores were lost.
The looted gold ornaments were kept in 467 packets,” said senior superintendent of police Amol V Homkar. Homkar said the man whom they had picked up from Bokaro yesterday is still being interrogated, and his involvement is yet to be established.
According to a senior police officer, though the driver who had carried the robbers from Chandankyari in Bokaro has made such revelation that might implicate him in the case, but the police have got information from him to find out the robbers involved.
A gang of six armed robbers had stormed the Muthoot Finance’s Mango branch office on Mango-Azadnagar Road and decamped with gold jeweleries worth over Rs 2.5 crores on Monday afternoon.
One of the robbers had picked up a cell-phone from a staff of the finance company. Later on the basis of the IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) number and cell-number of the said cell-phone police detected the pick-up van in which the robbers were boarded was somewhere in Chandankyari.
