Muthoot Finance robbery case: Police declare reward for informers

Jamshedpur : Seraikela-Kharsawan district police have announced to offer reward to anyone who will give information leading to the arrest of the main accused in the Muthoot Finance robbery case registered with the Adityapur police on October 8.

Srinivas Sharma, who was one of the security guards posted in Muthoot Finance’s Adityapur branch was the mastermind of the Rs 2.83 crores robbery, is still absconding. One of the suspects, Ranjit Sharma, has been nabbed but the rest still go scot free.

Revealing about the decision to offer reward, the Seraikela-Kharsawan superintendent of police Indrajit Mahthe said that they believe that the declaration of reward for the information regarding Srinivas will bring in results and the culprit will ultimately be caught.

Mahthe said that though they have already decided to offer the reward to an effective informer about the absconding robber, they are yet to decide the amount to be paid, which will go into lakhs.

A team of police officials had been sent to Srinivas’ native place in Aurgangabad district, but the team had to return back empty-handed.

He said the absconding robber is active in Bihar, Bengal Odisha and Jharkhand and keeps on moving, and there are as many as 11 cases of robbery and loot pending in police station in these states.

A gang of six robbers, including Srinivas and his nephew, who was also a security guard at the same finance company had looted gold and cash at gun-point in the evening of October 7.

Initially, the amount robbed was stated to be of Rs 1.35 crores, but later after an assessment by the company’s audit department, it was found out that the amount robbed was Rs 2.83 crores.
