Musical tribute to Pulwama martyrs by BBMF

Jamshedpur: Music artistes, organizers and the audience joined together in paying homage to the Pulwama martyrs before commencement of the exciting programs lined up for the evening at Michael John Auditorium in Bistupur.

The Bansi Bose Music Foundation organized its 7th Annual Classical Music soiree and dedicated the program to the Pulwama martyrs. The program was inaugurated jointly by TWU president R Ravi Prasad, newly elected Bansi Bose Music Foundation president Shekhar Dey, Purabi Ghosh and Aniruddha Sen by lighting the traditional lamp.

Immediately after the inauguration a two minute silence was observed in tribute to the Pulwama martyrs. Another period of two minutes silence was observed as a mark of respect for popular music artistes and music lovers of the country and city who had died over the past year.

On the occasion Prema Mukherjee sang patriotic songs and bhajans to go with the mood of tributes paid to the departed souls. She was accompanied on the tabla by Amitabh Sen and on flute by Ashok Das.

The program commenced with the vocal renditions by Vidushi Mira Banerjee the disciple of late Lalit Mohan Sanyal. She was followed by Pandit Ajoy Chakraborty�s disciple of the Patiala Gharana, Vidushi Anjana Nath.

Then it was the turn of an enthralling presentation of dhuns and ragas with their crisp variations of sarode virtuoso from Kolkata, Debanjan Bhattacharjee.

Debanjan received his training in the mould of Maihar Gharana from Ustad Asish Khan, Dhyanesh Khan and Vidushi Amina Pereira. It must be mentioned here that Debanjan�s three gurus are the son, student and daughter respectively of sarode colossus and world famed Ali Akbar Khan. In fact, Debanjan had the privilege of attending sarode workshops conducted by maestro Ustad Ali Akbar Khan.

Debanjan Bhattacharjee�s sarode recital was resplendent with the array of his expertise that had the stamp of Maihar Gharana and his gurus. Debanjan�s first presentation was aalap in raga Yaman Kalyan in Dhrupad mode. His final presentation was raga Hemant. His performance along with those of Shubhojit Guha on tabla and Nishant Singh on pakhawaj captivated the entire auditorium as the resounding ovation that they got for their performance in a program dedicated to the Pulwama martyrs.

Expert in classical music and writer Sandhya Rani Goswami was honoured for her contribution to classical music. She was presented a shawl and a certificate by Vidushi Anjana Nath.

It was indeed gratifying to see the noble gesture of the Bansi Bose Music Foundation when tabla maker and repairer Meghnath Ruhidas was honoured for his unstinted support to the cause of music through the years. He too was honoured with a shawl and certificate.

The program was anchored by Durga Ghosh Chowdhury. The program was directly broadcasted on social media vide Map radio.

The team of organizers for this exquisite show included Arjuna Awardee Subrata Dutta, Ashok Kumar Bose, Gautam Kumar Bose, all members of Bansi Bose Foundation, Anjan Mitra, Debasish, Tarun and Ranjana Mukherjee.
