Music and dance mark Basanta Utsav at Rabindra Bhawan Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur: The arrival of spring was celebrated in the form of Basanta Utsav organized by Tagore Society at the Rabindra Bhawan.

Two hundred students and teachers from various branches of the Tagore School of Art participated in the event, showcasing their talents through music and dance recitals based on the works of Kobi Guru Rabindranath Tagore.

The program commenced at 6:30 pm, featuring renditions of Tagore’s compositions from ‘Rituraj Basanta’ including popular songs based on his odes to spring.

Ashis Choudhury, General Secretary of the Tagore Society, highlighted that the Basant Utsav was an annual celebration inspired by Tagore’s love for nature. He emphasized the poet’s ability to depict the harmony between humans and nature, likening the arrival of spring to a dance of life.

Chowdhury enumerated that celebrating Tagore was to pay homage to the Bard’s literary legacy and to inspire the younger generation to appreciate and align with nature.

The Principal of the Tagore School of Art, Chandana Chowdhury and Jaydev Ghosh played leading roles in a rich presentation of Tagore’s celebration of spring through the alluring ‘Basanta Utsav.’
