Jamshedpur, Sept 29: The body of 22-year-old Bisu Murmu, a resident of Haludbani Dungri Tola under Parsudih police station , was recovered from Joda pond in Turamdih, Sundernagar, three days after he went missing.
Police suspect foul play and have sent the body for post-mortem.
Bisu had gone to a local fair on the evening of September 27 with his friends — Durga Soren, Dashmat Tudu and Rajesh Mahali — but never returned home. His family lodged a missing complaint the same night. After an extensive search, police found his body in the pond on Sunday.
The three friends have been detained for questioning. Initial probe suggests the group went to the pond for a swim, but since Bisu was a good swimmer, accidental drowning is being doubted.
Family members allege that his friends concealed details of the incident and delayed informing them. Police are investigating whether personal enmity or a dispute led to his death.
Sundernagar police said the post-mortem report and interrogation findings will help crack the case soon.
