Murder of five year old girl in Jamshedpur: Family members protest, police await autopsy report

Jamshedpur, Sept. 4: Even after 24 hours when the dead body of a five-year-old girl was recovered from the bank of Subernarekha river along Sonari on Wednesday, the police have not been able to make any progress in solving the case.

�The autopsy of the body was completed under a three-member medical board on Thursday afternoon.��

The relatives of the victim today agitated against the incident and demanded arresting of the murder victim’s step-father Supriyo at the Sonari police station and created a panic situation.

The family members and relatives took along the body of the child and demanded the police to hand over Supriyo to them so that they would teach him a lesson.�

Over 100� protestors, mostly women, launched a massive protest and the police had to deploy forces near the police station.� Following protest deputy superintendent of police (headquarters-II) Arvind Kumar assured them that they would solve the case and arrest the real culprits within the next 24 hours.

” It is not clear whether she subject to sexual assault or not only when the autopsy report will come it will be clear,� said an official. 

On receipt of the body on Wednesday morning, several police officers, including City SP Subhash Chandra Jat, reached the spot. There is anger among the people about the recovery of the dead body. People also created a ruckus in front of police officers. City SP assured the medical board team to conduct post mortem of the body. Police are currently investigating the case.

The victim girl who would stay with her mother at Kapali Bustee in Sonari had gone missing after she had gone along with her step-father on August 31 afternoon.  The girl’s mutilated body was found along the Subernarekha river on Wednesday morning. The left wrist of the victim was missing and there were numerous marks of injuries.

Her step-father, Supriyo, used to stay at a rented house in Dimna. The police had nabbed him from Dimna hours after the body was found along the Subernarekha river and claimed he had dropped his daughter near her mother’s house.

In a statement to the police, Supriyo said that after he had visited his wife’s house on August 31 morning, his daughter had insisted on a ride on his bike.

“After I took her around the locality in Sonari on his bike, I dropped her off at my wife’s house.  I had, however, seen the girl running behind my bike as I had dropped her,” claimed Supriyo.

City SP, Subhash Chandra Jat said “We are investigating the incident and cannot arrest anyone only on the basis of suspicion.  Supriyo is under suspicion, we are yet to arrest him as he is giving his innocence in this case,” said Jat.
