Municipal Corporation to be formed in city soon: Suresh Paswan

Jamshedpur: State urban development and tourism minister Suresh Paswan today said the formation of a municipal corporation in the city was inevitable and it was going to take place in near future. He said efforts have been started to form municipal corporation in the city. He was speaking to scribes at Circuit House on his visit to the city on Friday.

Paswan said the state government would be taking the necessary measures to remove roadblocks in the way of implementation of the municipal corporation proposal. He said the government wanted to implement the plan anyhow, even if it caused some delay. He said he hoped that the state government would take a decision on the issue prior to announcement of dates for Assembly election.

Paswan paid an inspection visit to Adityapur municipal area and Jugsalai Municipality today. He also visited the offices of Jamshedpur and Mango Notified Area Committee offices and directed the authorities concerned on various issues. He also asked the special officers of the civic bodies to speed up cleanliness work in their respective areas of jurisdiction.

Speaking on the issue of establishment of a solid waste treatment plant in Khairbani, Paswan said it was an important project for the city. He said the plant will not only dispose solid waste but would also produce gas. He said the erstwhile government had deliberately kept the project on hold, but now the project would be implemented without any further delay.

The minister ordered a probe into alleged encroachment of a government land in Adityapur. He found that a building was constructed on a government land during his visit. He further said that the hotels and buildings of the tourism department would be started for the people very soon.

The inn at Sakchi will also be started soon, he said.

The minister said the Supreme Court had enlisted the case related to the formation of Municipal Corporation in the city. The hearing will take place on 31st July. City-based human rights activist Jawaharlal Sharma had registered a case in support of municipal corporation in the year 1988.
