Potka: The Mukhiyas of Potka have threatened to launch a statewide agitation to protest the lodging of FIR against five of them in connection with allegations of anomalies in toilet construction projects.
Members of Mukhiya Coordination Committee, East Singhbhum, led by district president Ganesh Sardar Friday held a meeting to plan the course of agitation.
They said the Mukhiyas booked for the alleged toilet scam were innocent and that they had been implicated by certain corrupt officials on the behest of middlemen. They demanded that the cases against Mukhiyas should be withdrawn with immediate effect and an investigation should be initiated against the guilty.
State president Vikas Kumar Mahato said the Mukhiyas were unable to carry out toilet construction work as sand mining is stopped from 15th June to 15th October as per NGT Act.
The Mukhiyas present during the meeting included Dulari Soren, Bahadur Besra, Kanhai Murmu, Dipantari Sardar, Sumi Kerai and Sabita Murmu.
