Gamharia, June 28: The statue of Pandit Raghunath Murmu at Kanderbera in Chandil is programmed to be unveiled on Sunday, June 30 on the occasion of Hul Divas. But the Burudih Panchayat Mukhiya-cum-Adivasi Samaj chief Sokhen Hembram has objected to the unveiling of the statue on Hul Divas.
Hembram contended that Hul Divas is observed in commemoration of the Jharkhand uprising against the British rule led by revolutionaries Sidho-Kanhu and other brave hearts of the land and if the statue of Pandit Raghunath Murmu was unveiled that day, it would amount to disrespect of the martyrs. �The importance of Hul Divas will then be diluted.�
The Burudih Panchayat Mukhiya appealed to the organizers of the program to observe only Hul Divas on June 30 and to defer the date of unveiling of Pandit Raghunath Murmu�s statue to another date.
