Jamshedpur, August 31: Social organization, Samajik Seva Sangh (SSS) has accused the authorities of Meherbai Tata Memorial Hospital (MTMH) of charging money for medical tests from Ayushman and BPL card holders. SSS convener, Rajesh Samant took up the matter with the District Civil Surgeon Dr AK Lal who has order an enquiry into the complaint and assured that action would be initiated after recipt of investigation reports.
Rajesh Samant contended, “Ayushman and BPL card holders are poor people and hence are unable to avail of paid treatment. From where will they get the money for tests as prescribed by MTMH authorities who are aware of the card holders’ financial status? Ayushman card holders are financially weak people and they are permitted to avail of medical treatment costing upto Rs Five lakh. If these poor people have to get paid treatment then the very purpose of this Ayushman scheme is defeated.” The SSS delegation included Bhupati Sardar, Chhote Sardar, Kallu Sharma, Sonu Srivastava and others.
