Jamshedpur: The MP of Jamshedpur Vidyut Varan Mahato met the general manager of South Eastern Railway SN Agrawal at the zonal railway headquarters in Garden Reach, Kolkata, on Wednesday prior to the budget session.
He raised various issues related to pending railway projects in Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency, especially the pending Jugsalai railway overbridge construction project and demanded a slew of train facilities for the local residents.
Mahato apprised the Rail GM about the hurdles coming in the way of the Jugsalai overbridge project and demanded that the railways take steps to resolve the same. The GM told the MP that the railways would be giving land to the state government to construct the proposed overbridge in U shape. He said the process was being finalized on part of the railways.
The GM also told the MP that a meeting was soon going to be held with the Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Thursday (tomorrow). During the meeting, various technical and administrative aspects of the project will be discussed to resolve the issues.
Mahato raised demands for several train facilities for passengers of Jamshedpur constituency. He demanded trains from Tata to Bengaluru via Katpari, extension of route of Purushottam Express till Jaipur, Tata-Asansol Inter City Express till Bhagalpur and Tata-Asansol Inter City Express till Bhagalpur besides demanding new train services from Howrah to Jaipur via Tatanagar and from Tatanagar to Jainagar via Darbhanga.
The MP asked the GM to send proposals regarding the demands to the Railway Board so that the same may be discussed during the forthcoming budget session in the Parliament.
The MP also demanded that the difficulties coming in the way of construction of the Tatanagar station-Baroda Ghat main road should be removed so that the project may be completed in time.
