Chaibasa, Jan. 9: West Singhbhum MP Laxaman Gilua and local MLA Geeta Koda jointly inaugurated the Mogra –Jagnnathpur water supply scheme at Chotosai village on Saturday.
The estimated cost of the water supply scheme is worth Rs 6.68 crore. The water supply will benefit the people of Mogra- Jagnnathpur directly.
Laxman Gilua said that the scheme should be monitored by the villagers and see that quality of the scheme should not be compromised as the scheme is allotted once and it must be monitored.
Geeta Koda said that the scheme was proposed much before but due to political instability in the state it could not be implemented.
On the other hand Mukhiya of the panchayat and some people strongly protested the water supply scheme as the deep boring will deplete the water level and will create artificial drought in the field of crop growing.
The protestors requested MP Laxman Gilua to shift the scheme to the place of water reservoir area so that the water level will not be affected.
