Jamshedpur, March 16: Mohammad Saban was elected as the new Vice-Chairman of the Kapali Municipal Council following an election held on Monday at the Chandil Sub-Divisional Office. The contest witnessed a close fight between Mohammad Saban and Mohammad Hafeezuddin.
The election process was conducted under the supervision of the Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) and election officer, Vikas Kumar Rai. Prior to the voting, the newly elected Chairperson of the municipal council was administered the oath of office, after which all the ward councillors were also sworn in.
A total of 21 ward councillors of the Kapali Municipal Council were eligible to cast their votes in the election.
All councillors participated in the voting process, ensuring full turnout.
After the counting of votes, Mohammad Saban secured 12 votes, while his rival Mohammad Hafeezuddin received 9 votes. With this majority, Mohammad Saban was officially declared the winner and assumed office as the Vice-Chairman of the Kapali Municipal Council.
Speaking to the media after his victory, Saban expressed gratitude to the councillors who supported him and vowed to carry out his responsibilities with sincerity and dedication. He said he would work collectively with all councillors and stakeholders to accelerate development in the Kapali Municipal Council area.
Saban further emphasized that improving civic amenities and addressing local issues would remain his top priorities.
He assured residents that efforts would be made to ensure better infrastructure, sanitation, and public services across the council area.
The election marks an important step in the functioning of the Kapali Municipal Council, as the newly elected leadership prepares to focus on governance and development initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life for residents.
