MNPS Jamshedpur adopts sustainability practices, environmental responsibility

Jamshedpur, June 29: Motilal Nehru Public School (MNPS) announced its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. Led by Sayan Kesh and Joydeep Dutta and their Tata Consulting Engineers Ltd team, the school aimed to incorporate industry innovation and infrastructure in implementing various initiatives to reduce its carbon footprint and promote eco-friendly practices among the students, staff, and community.

Key sustainability practices adopted by the school included

Solar Power Generation: Reducing reliance on fossil fuels; Rainwater Harvesting and Greywater Reuse: For irrigation and flushing; Waste Segregation and Recycling: For ensuring proper disposal and recycling of waste; Energy-Efficient Lighting and Equipment: For reducing energy consumption; Promotion of Cycling and Carpooling:  For encouraging sustainable transportation; Organic Gardening and Composting: For promoting organic farming practices; Environmental Education: For integrating sustainability into the curriculum.

The school aimed to inspire its students to become responsible global citizens and empower them to make a positive impact on the environment. By adopting these sustainable practices, MNPS hoped to contribute to a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable future.

“We are proud to be at the forefront of sustainability in education,” said Principal Sangeeta Singh. “Our goal is to create a culture of environmental responsibility that extends beyond the classroom and into the community.”

The programme was organized by Sangeeta Singh (Principal), Rakhi Mitra (Vice-Principal), High School Coordinators Smita Majumdar and Picku Kumari, and teachers Chander Shekhar, Ajit Kumar, and Sampa Banerjee, along with all High School teachers. The vote of thanks was delivered by Ariana Upadhyay of class 10B.
