Jamshedpur: Jamshedpur West MLA Banna Gupta met the deputy commissioner of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal on Monday to demand early start of the Mango drinking water supply project.
He said the district administration should take an initiative to ensure that the Mango water supply project starts in a full-fledged manner.
He also demanded that the district administration should waive the water bills sent to around 6500 people of Mango Notified Area. He alleged that the bills were inflated and that the MNAC authorities had deliberately made the mistake.
Replying to the demands raised by Gupta, the DC said the state government and the district administration were serious about the water issue. He said a committee had been formed by the administration following the instructions of the urban development department secretary.
Speaking to scribes, Gupta said the special officer of MNAC has sent a proposal to the DC regarding waiving of water bills sent to the 6500 people. A probe committee will send the proposal to the state government after conducting an inquiry.
Gupta said the pipeline had not been laid in many parts of Mango Notified area. He said a detailed project report had been sought from the deputy commissioner in this regard.
