Chaibasa, May 16: In an effort to address the issue of excessive electricity bills and forced certificate cases imposed on consumers, MLA Deepak Birua recently held a meeting with Krishna Kumar Singh, the Superintendent Engineer of the Electricity Department. During the meeting, Birua discussed the matter in a systematic and comprehensive manner, seeking detailed information.

Expressing his concerns, Birua highlighted the oppressive burden placed on consumers through exorbitant electricity bills and the unjust practice of issuing forced certificates. He emphasized that if the department fails to show empathy towards the public, it may force them to take to the streets in protest.

Birua pledged to appeal to the state government to consider waiving outstanding electricity bills, exempting security fees for new connections, providing meters to households without them, and ensuring the installation of meters for all connections. In light of these pressing concerns, a meeting of the MLAs has been scheduled with the Honorable Chief Minister on May 19. This gathering aims to address the aforementioned issues and seek viable solutions to alleviate the hardships faced by the public.

Three villages in Tonto to receive electricity

Drawing attention to the lack of electricity in Jagda, Tilayakuti, and Taropburu villages of Kenjra Panchayat, nestled at the foothills of mountains under the Tonto block, MLA Deepak Birua has taken decisive action. Directing immediate measures to be taken, Birua has urged for electrification in these areas. In response, the Superintending Engineer has confirmed that a Detailed Project Report (DPR) has been prepared, and electrification work will commence soon. Furthermore, the engineer explained that after conducting a survey of the remote regions, electricity will be supplied to the remaining areas through the nearby village’s transformer. In addition to addressing the electricity issue, MLA Deepak Birua also brought to light the problems faced in Iligada village of Hatgamharia block, where the 25 KV transformer has failed, and in Dunumgutu, where the 16 KV transformer requires attention. Similarly, in Guda village of Jhinkapani block, the existing transformer faces frequent disruptions due to high load from a large number of consumers. MLA Deepak Birua has requested the installation of an additional 63 KV transformer in Guda to alleviate the power disruptions. Assuring a prompt resolution, the Superintending Engineer has guaranteed the availability of the required transformer in the near future.
