Jamshedpur, Nov 11: On the last day of campaigning for the first phase of the Jharkhand assembly elections, Bollywood star Mithun Chakraborty energized BJP supporters with a grand road show for Dr. Meera Munda, the BJP candidate in Potka constituency. Arriving by helicopter at Asanbani around 4:10 p.m. on Monday, Mithun’s presence drew enthusiastic crowds, with large groups of women and local residents gathering along the route to catch a glimpse of the actor and political supporter.

The road show, organized to showcase support for Meera Munda, began in Asanbani and wound through Potka’s key areas, including Gopalpur, Rakhamines, and Jadugoda. Mithun Chakraborty was joined by prominent BJP figures, including former Union Minister Arjun Munda, Meera Munda herself, and senior party leaders. The event saw overwhelming public participation, as hundreds lined the streets to cheer for the BJP’s campaign. Many waved BJP flags, and supporters shouted slogans endorsing the party’s policies.

Chakraborty, addressing the crowd, expressed his faith in the BJP’s vision, saying, “People of Potka deserve a leader who listens to their concerns and brings change. Meera Munda has the vision and dedication to serve her people effectively.” His statements were met with applause from the supporters, showing a wave of excitement among attendees.

Arjun Munda, who also addressed journalists during the event, criticized the lack of development in Potka, emphasizing the need for a shift in leadership. He remarked, “No substantial work has been done in Potka over the last five years. Essential public facilities remain lacking, and the people are suffering as corruption thrives,” he said, citing incidents of land-grabbing and bureaucratic hurdles faced by locals. According to Munda, there is growing discontent over these issues among residents who, as he put it, “want to see Potka transformed.”

Munda shared an example to highlight the corruption, mentioning an elderly resident who alleged that a local MLA had taken advantage of him in a land registration issue. Munda condemned this exploitation, saying, “Potka has become a center of illegal activities, with rampant corruption, especially in revenue processes.”

As the road show concluded at 5 p.m., marking the end of the campaign period, Munda highlighted the NDA alliance’s commitment, affirming, “The NDA is contesting all seats across Jharkhand, and we are confident of forming the government to serve the people effectively.” The road show in Potka, with Mithun Chakraborty’s support, became a strong symbol of BJP’s efforts to reach voters ahead of the election.
