Jamshedpur: After about a week-long struggle, the body of 73-year-old trader Bajranglal Bhartia was finally recovered from Subernarekha river along Bada Ghat under Mosabani police station area in Ghatshila sub-division on Friday after.
A 15-member team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) which had been searching the body since the past five days traced the body in the river at around 1.30 pm.
The body was decomposed and from the cloth that the deceased put on the police recovered key of his scooter, a small dairy and Rs 800.
A resident of Satyanarayan Mandir Path, Bhartia was missing since August 30 evening. The police had lodged a missing person report with the Jugsalai police station on the information given by his son, Kamal Bhartia on August 31.
Beside owner of a cloth shop in Bata Chowk in Jugsalai, Bharita used to be involved in social activities and was president of Shiv Ghat temple at Jugsalai.
The police had pressed local divers for searching the body from Kharkai and Subernarkha, but after two days a group of traders from Jugsalai had met the East Singhbhum deputy commissioner, Amit Kumar requesting him to press NDRF for searching his body.
A 15-member NDRF team had arrived at the steel city and had started the search operation accordingly.
Significantly, on Tuesday the NDRF team had come across a body in Kharkai river. The body was later identified as that of a 35-year-old man, Rajiv Ranjan, who was a resident of Sonari.
OC, Jugsalai police station KN Ram confirmed about the recovery of the trader’s body today.
” After days of search the body was found floating along the Bada Ghat in Mosabani. We got it identified by the deceased’s son Kamal Bhartia (50) and about a dozen relatives. Then only we sent it to Ghatshila sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem,” said Ram.
The OC, Ram said as the body was decomposed, the Ghatshila sub-divisional hospital authority shifted the body to MGM Medical College mortuary for the post-mortem.
