Miscreants steal Rs 4.75 lakh from a bike at Sakchi

Jamshedpur: In a broad day light incident, unidentified miscreants decamped with Rs 4.75 lakh after stealing it from the dickey of a bike near Sakchi roundabout on Friday afternoon.

The incident happened when the victim, Subhash Singh, 38, a cashier in Mahavir Transport located along Kalimati Road at Sakchi was returning to his office after withdrawing the cash from ICICI’s Sakchi branch. Singh saw his bag in the hand of a youth, about 25-year-old, who managed to escape.

The victim said he had withdrawn the cash from the ICICI Bank and put the money in a bag before slipping it in the bike’s dickey. After a while he saw his dickey empty.

The officer in-charge of Sakchi police station Gopal Singh arrived at the spot and started investigation into the incident. He said a complaint of theft of Rs 4.75 lakh was received from Subhas Singh, a staff of a Kalimati Road-based transport company.

The officer-in-charge added when there was a complaint of theft from a running bike, the police have to accept it as a genuine case. He said a probe was on into the incident.
