Jamshedpur, April 23 : Unidentified miscreants set an eatery near the Traffic Training Institute on Sakchi-Burmamines road on fire at the wee hours of Sunday.
A dispute between the eatery owner and a group of customers over making payment of bills led to be the reason behind the criminal act, which caused the roadside hotel to get completely gutted in fire.
In this connection, the hotel owner, Vinod Gupta has lodged an FIR against unidentified miscreants, leading the police to swing into action for detecting the culprits.
According to the owner, a group of four youths had food at the eatery at about 10.30 pm on Saturday, and when it was their turn for them to make payment for the food, the youths started protesting against the high charge being asked for.
According to the complaint, the four youths whom the eatery owner knows by face had gone away after paying the bill, but while leaving the place, one of them had threatened Gupta with dire consequences.
At about 4 am, Gupta who is resident of East Plant Bustee in Burmamines was informed that his eatery has been torched. Incidentally, someone had also informed the fire-brigade leading a fire-tender to arrive at the spot.
“I in state of shock and failed to understand what led them to put fire. Though a fire tender was pressed into service, but my hotel was reduced to ash by the time the fire-tender arrived there,” said Gupta.
The hotel owner has said he has incurred a loss of over three lakh as his sets of utensils and stock of food-grains were gutted. OC, Burmamines police station, Pramod Kumar Sinha confirmed about the incident and said that the investigation was on.
