Jamshedpur, May 30: Minister of Health and Disaster Management Department Banna Gupta on Saturday discussed the work plan related to sanitation of drains in the city and drinking water supply in view of up coming Monsoon season. Issues related to the use of community buildings, maintenance of accessible toilets with the officials of the three municipal bodies were also discussed.
He gave necessary guidelines during the meeting at Circuit House. In connection with the Moharda water supply scheme, the Minister instructed Tata Steel’s civic amenities unit Jusco and JNAC to prepare an action plan for the treatment of four major drains. Also, the matter related to disrupting drinking water supply due to pipeline breakdown due to construction work in NH in Mango region was discussed.
The Minister ordered to investigate whether the cleaning personnel deputed through agencies in the municipal body area are getting the benefit of EPF, ESIC.
Gupta said that administration should ensure supervision of all community buildings. He said that the community building should not be a place of accommodation but it should be used in the interest of the community. The minister said that there has been talk with Tata Steel MD about providing sewing-embroidery jobs after training in community buildings, through which needy women can ear a living by making brooms, dusters, gloves etc.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Ravi Shankar Shukla, Mango Municipal Corporation Executive Officer Deepak Sahay, Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee Special Officer Krishna Kumar, Jugsalai Municipality Executive Officer Jagdish Yadav, Executive Engineer Drinking Water and Sanitation Department Santosh Kumar Mani., Junior Engineer, Assistant Engineer, City Manager, Executive Engineer, representatives of Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Tata Steel were present.
