Jamshedpur: A significant drop in the minimum temperature is expected across Jharkhand starting tomorrow, as per the latest bulletin issued by the Ranchi Met Centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The bulletin states that the minimum temperature will witness a fall of 3 to 5 degrees Celsius over the next 72 hours, marking a shift from the gradual rise in temperatures observed in the state over the past 4 to 5 days.
Today, Jamshedpur recorded a minimum temperature of 19.4°C, showing a rise compared to other parts of the state. Ranchi, the state capital, registered a minimum temperature of 16.2°C. Meanwhile, Daltonganj recorded 16.5°C and Bokaro saw a minimum temperature of 17.1°C. Despite this upward trend in temperature, the weather patterns are now set to change with the onset of colder conditions.
The lowest temperature in the state today was recorded in Gumla, which experienced a minimum of 12.8°C. Other towns like Chatra and Deoghar recorded 14.9°C and 17.1°C respectively. Dhanbad’s temperature was slightly higher at 15.2°C, while areas such as Jamtara and Khunti recorded temperatures above 15°C.
This temperature fluctuation is attributed to the influence of a Western Disturbance, which is being observed as a trough in the lower and middle tropospheric levels with its axis situated at 5.8 km above the mean sea level. The disturbance is expected to affect the Western Himalayan region starting February 8, further impacting the weather conditions across the state.
The IMD has advised residents to prepare for the drop in temperatures, especially during the night and early morning hours, as the cold wave is likely to bring chillier conditions in the coming days. The weather change is also expected to affect agricultural activities and may result in cooler days and nights across the state.
Jamshedpur residents have been advised to stay updated and prepare for the coming cold spell. As temperatures dip, warmth-providing measures and layered clothing will be essential to ward off the chill.
