Minimum temperature rises in Jamshedpur, thunderstorms expected

Jamshedpur: The minimum temperature in Jharkhand has started to rise, signaling a shift in the weather pattern across the state. Alongside this increase, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms in several districts over the next two days. According to the Ranchi-based Meteorological Center, there is a possibility of thunderstorms in the south-eastern parts of Jharkhand on one day, and in the southern and adjoining areas on the following day.

Abhishek Anand, the head of the Ranchi Meteorological Center, explained that the current weather shift is due to an active western disturbance, coupled with cyclonic circulation in Haryana and adjoining regions. These meteorological phenomena are influencing the temperature and weather conditions in Jharkhand. During the last 24 hours, the weather remained dry across the state, with the highest maximum temperature recorded at 34.3 degrees Celsius in Seraikela, while Khunti experienced the lowest minimum temperature at 8.9 degrees Celsius.

Jharkhand has seen a noticeable increase in minimum temperatures over the past day. On Saturday, the state’s minimum temperature was recorded at 6.9 degrees Celsius, which rose to 8.9 degrees Celsius by Sunday. This marks an increase of 2 degrees in just 24 hours. Except for Khunti and Hazaribagh, all districts in Jharkhand have recorded minimum temperatures above 10 degrees. The Meteorological Department predicts that this upward trend will continue, with a further rise of 2 to 3 degrees in minimum temperatures over the next three days.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorms in several districts on February 19 and 20. On February 19, thunderstorms are likely in East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, and Saraikela-Kharsawan of the Kolhan division, as well as Simdega district. The following day, February 20, the alert extends to the same districts along with some adjoining eastern areas.

The Meteorological Department has provided a detailed weather outlook for the next five days: February 17: The sky will be clear, and the weather is expected to remain dry. February 18: Partial cloud cover is predicted, but no precipitation is expected. February 19: Cloudy skies are anticipated, with the possibility of thunderclouds forming. February 20: Rain accompanied by thunder is expected, with thunderclouds likely to form. February 21: Cloudy conditions may persist, although no significant change in temperature is anticipated.
