Jamshedpur, March 22: City police here on Wednesday busted a mini liquor factory being run illegally for the last several days. Three people have been arrested in this connection. They were identified as Pintu Prasad, resident of Sopodera, Akash Mahto, resident of Turiyabeda of MGM police station area and Yogendra Yadav, resident of Baridih. However, the main culprits, Govinda Kaivarta and Gautam Kaivarta, are at large, cops said, adding that raids were on to arrest the two. Police have recovered a total of 5541 litres of liquor (9512 bottles), the estimated value of which is said to be Rs 50 lakh. DSP Law and Order Sumit Kumar Agrawal said police had received a tip-off that Pintu Prasad was selling illicit liquor at his in-laws' house.
On March 21, police had raided the house of Pintu’s in-laws and recovered 10 cases of liquor hidden under the staircase. During interrogation, Pintu reportedly confessed that he used to buy liquor from Govinda and Gautam, residents of Kamalpur under Gamharia police station of Seraikela Kharsawan district. Police raided Govinda’s godown from where liquor loaded in two mini trucks was recovered, police said.
