Jamshedpur: Implementation of the midday meal scheme in government schools of Potka block has hit a roadblock with there being hardly any school where the scheme is being implemented in letter and spirit.
As a direct consequence of the failure of the midday meal scheme, the admission procession has also taken a beating.
In almost all the schools, the admission figures are a long way from being even the 10 per cent of the total capacity. While on one hand, souring mercury is harassing everyone, especially students, irregularity in the implementation of midday meal scheme has further reduced the strength of students.
In Middle School, Bhatin, the number of students has gone down by 20 per cent of the total strength. The headmaster Duhiram Manjhi said the scheme had to be closed due to non-availability of fund.
Many other schools are facing similar situation. As a result, the number of students is on a decline.
The district superintendent of education Indu Bhushan Singh said action will be taken against schools which have given false figure of students.
