Jamshedpur: A multi disciplinary research centre will soon be opened at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital(MGMCH).
The proposed centre will facilitate research on various medical disciplines including genetics, blood diseases and their treatment. Surveys will also be conducted apart from academic activities.
The state health department has earmarked 17 medical colleges for this purpose. This was informed by Dr Amarendra Nath Mishra, principal of the college.
He said a building having area of 300 square metre had been constructed to set up the research centre. Equipments are being fitted in the building. Electricity supply and manpower will soon be provided to the centre.
Doctors will carry out research on various topics in the centre. A genetic wing and haemoglobin pathological laboratory will also be set up at the centre.
Dr Mishra said the health secretary of the state had praised the hospital for its performance.
