Jamshedpur, June 17 : MGM Medical College Hospital has got new adjustable beds for patients. The beds have been provided at the emergency, burn care unit and
children ward as well as gynaecology ward of the medical college
hospital. The new seven-storyed building block set up on the hospital
premises will also be equipped with the new beds.
Hospital superintendent SN Jha said that they had purchased 160 beds
for the newly-constructed building block. He said they are working on
to improve facilities for the patients.
“We are replacing beds of the hospital with new comfortable lot. We
replaced the existing beds at the emergency department with the new
ones as the flow of emergency patients at the hospital was the
maximum,” said Jha.
The hospital superintendent said the beds are being put at various
wards in the newly-constructed hospital block which is likely to get
functional soon.
The MGM Medical College Hospital till recently had 520 beds, but with
the completion of the new block, the bed capacity has increased to
629.
A senior administrative official of the medical college hospital said
that each of new beds cost Rs 40,000.
” I think the patients will be more comfortable with the new beds. We
have provided new beds to the emergency wards, children ward and burn
care units. Some beds which were worn out and damaged are also being
replaced,” said the official.
MGM Medical College and Hospital is a government hospital with the facility of 540 beds. Everyday around 1000 patients come here for treatment. It may be mentioned that State Government governed Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital, is an Indian medical school established in 1964. It is situated in the outskirts of Jamshedpur near Dimna. The college’s hospital is located in Sakchi.
